- Hey Mark, wassup? Would you mind holding the mic?
- No worry. This mic is really fancy.
- Yes it is. So, what do you think of the night?
- Oh man, we've been rolling. I can't wait to tell you what I think of the night. I don't know how to begin, but I know one thing, the atmosphere was really good you know. I felt... like, I felt happy on the park. I thought “I really don't care how I'm riding, I'm just having fun”. You know,at the end, I was basically walking around the ramp, and I was like “oh, who won?”. And a guy said: “you did”. And I was like, “yeah man, pretty good damn joke”. And he said “No. You did.” And I was like: “How?”. I don't even remember what I did. I was having a good time man, and I'm ready to keep this rollin' all the weekend. Let's see what happens.
- How do you see the 2011 FISE compared to the other previous ones? Oh, you're bleeding dude...
- No worry. Obviously, we have got an issue with the weather. The weather has been an issue, but it won't stop anything, even though it's raining, the crowd's still here, because, I think, look what happenned: it was a decent contest. I mean, look at Daniel [Dhers]: he killed it, he smashed it, I had never seen him riding like that. So much new stuff... I think when the conditions are not the best, you know, when it's like that, it just makes more beautiful things happen. You know, just like a beautiful disaster. I love it when this goes down like this.
But yeah, compared to the other years, I mean, obviously, I think it was 2007 that the weather was beautiful, but the contest wasn't as big. But the crowd was there. You know, they're really into extreme sports here. So, I don't know, it's just been amazing, every year it's been really good, we had a really good time.
But, regarding the weather, let me tell you a story: a lot of bad things happened to me this week. When we first came to do this qualifier, I broke my brake cable. I was like: “oh, bummer”. And then, just today, we were about to do another qualifier, and it rains. I'm like “oooh damn!”. And right at that point, I take my bike over the fence, and I drop it to the other side, you know, to climb on the fence afterwards. And when my bike bounces, its handlebar just snaps off. And I was like: “are you for real?” And a french guy told me: “Hey, Mark Webb: you just dodged a bullet”. And I was like: “yeah, I did, didn't I?”. Cause if I were riding then, the handlebar would have snapped off in my stomach. So, I'm grateful for the rain. The Englishman lives on!
- What was the trick of the night, in your opinion?
- Mmmh, Alex's double whip bus was good. He didn't land clean and cut his mouth wide open, but, that was the craziest thing I've seen in a long time. Or maybe Ben Wallace's faki double tailwhip... I don't know. Anyway, we had great time, we love the FISE man!
- Ok thank you Mark! Get some rest for the park tomorrow, or get a beer...
- Thanks buddy, was that good?
- Indeed.
