Art and Fise - AL STICKING INTERVIEW

Yesterday, upon the Chengdu's Mayor visit on the FISE World Montpellier, the artist Al Sticking realized a piece on the 35 years of twinning between both cities, Chengdu et Montpellier, and extreme sports as well, more specifically the FISE. We grabbed the chance to focus on this artist and know him better.   

Hello Al, where do you come from ?

I was born in Normandie, but I've been living in Montpellier since 10 years.

Could you explain us where the name « AL STICKING » exactly comes from ?

AL stand for my initials and Sticking is the collage technique. Since 3 years I've been working mainly with paint and doing less and less collage, so it's just AL nowadays.   

What's the specialty of your creations ?

Black and white characters to highlight the human aspect, human relationships.  

Can you explain your creative process ?

I'm inspired by certain themes. For example here, I was inspired by the city twinning of Montpellier and the chinese city Chengdu, also a FISE World Series stop-over. I wanted to illustrate a chinese rider on her way to the FISE in Montpellier.

What are the next events, exhibits where we can see you and your work again ?

My first solo exhibit will take place in 2017 at the Carré Sainte-Anne de Montpellier !
