CODY ELKINS AND MIMI GRANIERI INTERVIEW

21 May 2016 11:29

After witnessing the first practice session, we were already amazed by the level and we were asking oursleves the question of knowing how these riders prepare, both physically and mentally. For you we went to ask questions to Cody Elkins, Quad rider, and Mimi Granieri, BMX rider, to know a bit more.

Cody Elkins, for those who don't know him is the Guinness Book world record holder of the highest jump on a mobile ramp and he is also...listen...the first rider to ever jump over an airplane in flight ! Which currently puts him as one of the best Quad Freestyle riders in the world.

What are your sensations when you ride ?

I'm always a bit nervous on the first jump because the jumps are different everytime so we always have to adapt to the environment. Usually, when we go for the first jump, we evaluate things a bit, then we can go for it completely and improve the tricks. When I feel that the crowd in the venue is into it, it motivates me to offer them the best of myself and be in complete osmosis.

Do you go through some kind of ritual before you start ?

Yes I always have some thoughts for all the riders who are doing the show, wishing that everything goes well, that everyone is happy with their riding and that the fun is at its hghest point !

What do you think of the ramps we have for the Crédit Agricole Languedoc Show Freestyle ?

It's incredible, it changes compared to the 2015 edition, I like the set up a lot and the ramps are perfectly set to make this show a day to remember, with a whole lot of tricks !

Jeremy Granieri aka « mimi » comes from Lyon, he's a kind rider who always smiles. At the age of 23, he has no limits, for him everything is good for a ride ! At ease with BMX dirt and park, he never misses a chance to perform his most beautiful tricks. As a woodworker, he creates his own kickers always for more creativity. His strong points : speed and height. For him, the idea of training scares him a bit and like a good epicurian, he rides for fun before anything else. BMX is his passion and he can spend many hours riding ! Young and full of energy, Mimi is the opposite of Cody in how he prepares, he prefers to express his emotions even when being under pressure. It's his way to prepare before a show.

What do you think of the new course for the show ?

I love the Big Air and the landing which are on the same track as FMX, it's original and I can't wait to test it and see what I can give on it with the show coming tonight.

Our riders are more than motivated and with the practice session we can expect a big show tonight. The dirt is there, the set up ready...The show will go from 9pm tonight at the Arena of Montpellier.
