Art and Fise - HONK et Clash INTERVIEW

05 May 2016 18:22

Where do you come from ?

Both : « Montpellier »

Why these names' choices Honk et Clash ?

Honk : « Because of the letters, and the Rolling Stones song « Country Honk » ! »

Clash : I choose this name for its meaning : the graffiti world is a bit like a war, « Clash » is a name that suits me especially because of my strong personality »

What are the specificities of your creations ?

Honk : « In graffiti, I make letters, characters, backgrounds, I'm pretty versatile. »

Clash : «  I'm using several techniques : cans but also less and less toxic techniques like brush, acrylic paint…  and quite a lot of mixed techniques to make canvas. »

What led you to that wall ?

Honk : « I took care of the background and the atmosphere, in relation with the FISE. It wasn't possible to put all of the disciplines so I choose to represent two characters, one is a skater, characteristic of the « street » aspect of the event. »

Clash : « The logo immediately came to my mind, as it's the best way to represent the FISE. Then with Honk we agreed to make the composition with the logo and the characters. »

What do you think of street art featured within the FISE ? The association between extreme sports and urban culture ? Do you have some ideas to bring some evolutions for street art in the FISE ?

Honk : « For me this association is unavoidable. I was skating when I was younger and I had already started to make graffiti, it's the same universe regarding all things creative coming out of these worlds. For the future editions, I think it would be interesting to have artists coming from all over the world to make a huge fresco during one week with internationally renowned artists ! »

Clash : « I have many ideas with future projects. The association of extreme sports and Graffiti works well since they both come from the street. It's interesting to follow these movements because it helps promoting young guys like me who can only make it in life through their passion. »
