Yui Kiyomune wins UCI BMX freestyle flatland final

It’s a 100% Japanese podium for this first stop of the BMX Freestyle Flat World Cup.

 

Once again, Japan, with five riders, was well represented in this first UCI Women's BMX Freestyle Flatland World Cup final.

 

This dominant delegation included World Champion Ayuna Miyashima and Nina Suzuki, a star of the discipline who dominated the qualifying rounds.

Joining them was Hungarian rider Veronika Kadar, and of course, the crowd favorites, the Seigneur sisters, Jeanne and Louise, whom FISE regulars have watched grow and evolve in this legendary competition.

 

Despite their numerous podium finishes and titles at French and European competitions, the Seigneur sisters were unable to prevail against the Japanese riders, but they still delighted the crowd, even pursuing their run after the buzzer, just for the pleasure. The twins, originally from Fougères, ended at the sixth place for Jeanne eighth for Louise.

 

Nina Suzuki, who had finished first in the qualifying rounds with some particularly complex sequences, had an excellent start to her run, with her first sequence lasting over thirty seconds. After touching the ground midway through the run, Suzuki was destabilized and unable to get back into the competition. She nevertheless took third place.

 

In second place was Sona Yoshimura. At 15 years old, she was the youngest rider in this final.

 

Finally, victory went to Yui Kiyomune, who was consistent throughout her run and demonstrated great ease in controlling her bike and her sequences.
