What is FISE?

FISE, the acronym for Festival International des Sports Extrêmes, is a cultural revolution.

A vibrant stage where the modern-day superheroes – skaters, riders, and freestylers – express their passion, creativity, and freedom. It’s a unique crossroads where the underground becomes mainstream, bringing together disciplines and communities around a single philosophy: Freestyle.

A celebration, an inclusive festival of urban sports, where everyone finds their place.

FISE was born from a vision, a spark that turned into a flame thanks to the passion of a young student in 1997. An avid Skate and BMX practitioner, Hervé André-Benoit shared with his friends a common dream: to create an event capable of bringing their love for urban sports and its accompanying culture – music, street art, and community spirit – to life. What began as a modest student project, full of energy and bold ideas, quickly grew. The first event in Montpellier in 1997 attracted a small crowd of enthusiasts. But through tireless energy and unwavering commitment, this gathering has, over the years, become a global institution and the largest urban sports event in the world.

Today, FISE has expanded far beyond Montpellier. It travels across five continents, exporting its spirit of freedom and inclusion.

Through world cups and the Olympic Games, FISE supports the rise of urban sports while nurturing the talents of tomorrow.

With 500 events organized since 1997, 1 million cumulative visitors each year, and 2 million fans on social media, FISE is a true global phenomenon that continues to inspire and unite.
