Here are the 5 things to do in Chengdu if you plan to visit this huge city during your stay

1- The Giant Pandas

The best place to observe them is Chengdu's research and breeding base. Located about fifteen kilometres to the north of the city, this centre has been since 1987 an important place for the protection of the giant pandas and red pandas of the country. Some tips: plan a visit in the morning, when the pandas are fed and therefore active, respect the animals and the rules of the centre! The site is accessible by bus, metro or taxi, and can be visited with or without a guide.

2 - Walk to Kuan Zhai Alleys and Jinli Road

The pedestrian streets of Kuan Zhai Alleys or Jinli Road will immerse you in Chengdu which has seen its architecture and heritage evolve over the years and become a large modern city looking like a Western capital!

3- Eat local

Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan cuisine, but beware it is very very spicy!

Try Hot Pot, Mapo Doufu, Dandan Noodles, Gongbao Jiding, and all the street food trucks!

4- Shopping

Want a shopping spree? Whether you are looking for souvenirs, fashion boutiques or a good coffee, you should find it all in the busy pedestrian street of Chunxi.

5- The "Chengdudes"!
